The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources published the Draft Mineral Resources Development Bill, 2025 on 20 May 2025, and invites all interested parties to submit written comments. The deadline for submissions is 8 August 2025. To ensure broad engagement, a series of stakeholder consultation sessions will be held across all nine provinces. These sessions aim to gather input from stakeholders within the South African mining industry.
The Critical Minerals and Metals Strategy outlines a clear and coordinated roadmap to leverage these natural resources in a manner that promotes inclusive growth, industrial development, job creation, and economic transformation.
