PROJECT STEERING COMMITTEE

The Project Steering Committee (PSC) oversees the development of the SETRM to ensure that all critical aspects are covered. For this reason the PSC:

  • Approves all ToRs for consultants and subcontracting consultants;
  • Reviews and approves progress reports presented by the consultants;
  • Approves the project plan and budget from the consultants regarding activities of the SETRM. Where/if progress is unsatisfactory; the PSC recommends ameliorative actions to the consultants;
  • Stablishes any sub-committee it deems necessary to advice on any aspect of its functions;
  • Undertakes any other activity necessary to ensure proper advisory functions for the SETRM.

In general, the PSC is mandated to provide advice, expertise, and guidance and make recommendations to the Department of Energy and the Department of Science and Technology during the development of the roadmap.

All members of the PSC are expected to actively participate in the development of the SETRM, either directly or through sub-committees.

The members of the SETRM are as follows:

The PSC meets monthly on the third Wednesday of each month and the meetings are co-chaired by the DoE and the DST. The PSC meetings are to be attended by at least one representative from each participating organisation or department.

The DoE, supported by the DST, provides Secretariat Services to the SETRM PSC and in the event that sub-committees are established, the Secretariat also assists these units by providing administrative support and compiling reports.

Lastly, SETRM envisions the establishment of various Sub-committee(s) comprised of members of the PSC and people/ institutions from outside the PSC with relevant knowledge and expertise who are invited to perform specific tasks to accomplish the common goal of developing a SETRM for South Africa.
