Minister Mantashe to release the 2019 mine health and safety statistics

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr. Gwede Mantashe (MP) will on Friday, 24 January 2020 release the mine health and safety statistics for the 2019 calendar year. The statistics will include the performance of the mining industry in terms of fatalities, injuries and occupational diseases.

 

The Department remains committed to ensuring the health and safety of mineworkers through the implementation of the Mine Health and Safety Act and fostering cooperation with all stakeholders, for the long-term sustainability of the sector.

 

Members of the media are invited to a briefing on the performance of the sector, scheduled to take place as follows:
