Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane (MP) has welcomed the announcement today of a new investment of R1.7 billion by Sephako Fluoride, to construct a mine and concentrator north east of Pretoria. Minister Zwane said this announcement demonstrates investor confidence in the South African mining industry, and attests to the stability of the sector. "We have always held the firm view that South Africa remains an investment destination of choice, and that Government has created a conducive environment and the necessary legislative predictability for investment to take place. This investment decision is proof of that," the Minister said. Construction is expected to be concluded in 21 months, and an estimated 200 permanent jobs will be created once the mine is in operation.
