Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane will this week address Nigeria’s National Mining Summit, taking place in that country’s capital Abuja between the 13th and 15th of June 2017. Minister Zwane will share South Africa’s experience in the development of the country’s mining industry as well as lessons learnt, as Nigeria seeks to grow its own mining industry. In December last year the two countries adopted a two-year Action Plan to implement an MoU on cooperation in the fields of geology, mining, mineral processing and metallurgy. The Plan focuses on advancing geo-scientific knowledge generation; contribution to energy security; contribution to agriculture and food security; the regulatory framework; mineral processing and value addition; as well as institutional capacity.
