MEDIA INVITATION: MINISTER MANTASHE TO DELIVER OPENING ADDRESS AT THE 2023 AFRICA OIL WEEK

By Thabisho Kgaditsi on 10/9/2023

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe (MP), will deliver the opening address at the 2023 Africa Oil Week (AOW) set to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 10 to 13 October 2023.

Africa Oil Week is an annual conference that brings together petroleum industry captains, government leaders, the academia and non-governmental organisations to deliberate on various matters in the oil and gas sector. It aims to foster substantive dialogues among government representatives, energy policymakers, financiers, and dealmakers to chart a sustainable path forward for the continent’s abundant natural resources, including oil.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) will also host a South Africa Spotlight session themed: Maximising Natural Resources to Support Sustainable Economic Development. The session will position South Africa as a new exploration frontier and discuss how the newly found reserves can support decarbonization and industrialization, while encouraging additional exploration in frontier basins from the West (Orange Basin) and to the East (South Outeniqua).
