The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) will host a landmark Mining Industry Engagement on 29 August 2025 at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Convention Centre in Pretoria.
This critical engagement is set to bring together key stakeholders across the mining value chain to drive inclusive growth, address pressing challenges, and set the course for South Africa's mining future.
The engagement will be led by the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Mr Gwede Mantashe who will drive robust discussions around:
· Combating illegal mining and its damaging impact on the economy, safety, and communities.
· Building consensus on the strategy’s implementation across government, industry, and stakeholders.
· Positioning South Africa as a global leader in sustainable and inclusive mining.
· Exploring ways to maximise South Africa’s role in the global mineral economy and value chains.
Stakeholders are encouraged to attend and contribute to shaping a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready mining industry for all South Africans.
